Also known as leiomyomas, uterine fibroids are extremely common and can cause a host of problems, from extreme abdominal pain to infertility. Apart from surgery or medication, there are quite a few herbal remedies and diet changes you can make that may help to prevent or even rid your body of these tiny tumors.
What are Fibroids?
Fibroids are tiny non-cancerous tumors that grow within the uterine walls--when enlarged, they can lead to severe abdominal pain, cramps, heavy periods and can even reduce fertility. They range in size from a few millimeters to almost eight inches. About 75% of women will experience uterine fibroids in their lifetime. It's the reason for more than two hundred thousand hysterectomies each year.
Because fibroids can exist in women for years without any symptoms, the best medicine is prevention. However, if you've already been diagnosed with uterine fibroids or suspect them, there's still hope. In this article, we'll touch on both the prevention and some natural treatment to help your body fight these pesky growths.
How to prevent Uterine fibroids
Although some risk factors are out of your control, there are certain changes you can make to your diet to prevent and/or reduce fibroids.
1. Avoid Foods that alter hormone balance and make fibroids worse
Because their growth is mainly driven by hormone changes and their imbalance, it is important to avoid foods that contain hormones, nitrites, steroids or antibiotics. These mainly include dairy, soy, non grass-fed meats and processed meats.
2. Regularly cleanse and eat green vegetables
Eat lots of green vegetables as they help to detoxify the body, and rid it of harmful toxins or food additives that also increase your risk of developing fibroids. Doing a natural cleanse or detox every few months also helps to speed this process, and keeps the digestive system healthy.
3. Reduce caffeine and alcohol
Consuming too much alcohol reduces immune system function and disrupts hormone balance. Excess caffein is stressful on the liver and reduces its ability to keep hormones in check.
4. Consume Flaxseeds, whole grains and high-iron foods
Flaxseeds not only help to balance estrogen levels, but also help to regulate bowel movement and are packed with heart healthy omega 3's. High iron foods are beneficial to those who are already diagnosed with fibroids and experience heavy periods. Last, but not least, whole grains are the least processed foods and are very mineral rich. This too promotes healthy thyroid function and leads to healthy hormone balance.
How to naturally Support a Healthy Reproductive System
There are quite a few herbal options when it comes to promoting a healthy reproductive system. You can try individual herbs like Vitex berry, Fish oil, Flaxseed oil, milk thistle, and Red Maca. It's possible to mix a few of these and find combination that works for you.
Another option is to use pre-formulated herbal products to treat this condition. I suggest you start with the female tonic and begin changing your diet..
Step 1
First, begin with the Female Tonic, this women's tonic is ready made and is to be taken 2oz daily before sleep (finish the bottle in 8 days).
Step 2
Sea Moss! It is packed with iodine which helps to regulate Thyroid function. This tiny gland regulates hormone production, mood, metabolism and appetite––needless to say, a healthy thyroid equals and happier you!
Step 3
Avoid meats and dairy with added hormones. Grass fed animals are the way to go if you're not vegan. If you are vegan, try not to consume too much soy as it may alter your estrogen levels.
Regular supplementation of Maca powder. This adaptogenic herb helps to alleviate stress, increases energy and support healthy hormone levels. It's an all round great supplement for anyone.
For the best results, be sure to combine these three steps with the recommended diet and exercise. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask us in the comments below or shoot us an email.

I would like to know if there is a high success rate for embolization . I have been told that is an option for my uterine fibroids. I have had fibroids for many years and they have increased in size. Are the teas able to shrink larger fibroids?
